In short. August 2026 is the densest month of the year in Puglia: from two Negramaro concerts in Lecce and Bari within 24 hours, to the Concertone of the Notte della Taranta, to the 20th Mediterranean Games turning Taranto into an international sporting capital. Seven areas, one calendar, week by week.
August in Puglia cannot be told through a single event, because there is no single event. There are seven different territories which, in the same month, stage things that have almost nothing in common with each other. The Salento with its village festivals and the Notte della Taranta. The Valle d’Itria with the international jazz of the Locus Festival. The Gargano with its sea festivals. Bari with its big concerts. The BAT area with its lesser-known patron saint feasts. The Daunia with its farming traditions. And the Ionian arc, which this year hosts the most important sporting event in the region’s recent history.
In this article: the August 2026 calendar divided week by week, with events from the Salento, the Valle d’Itria, the Gargano, the Terra di Bari, the BAT, the Daunia and the Ionian arc — plus a summary of the main Salento events, with a link to the guide devoted to them.
⚠️ A word about the dates. Village festivals and patron saint feasts in the smaller towns — above all in the BAT and Gargano areas — are often listed by online aggregators on a historical or traditional basis, and are not always officially confirmed for the current year at the time of writing. Every entry carrying that risk is marked to be checked below: before organising anything around it, look at the town council’s own site or the local tourist office.
📅 1–2 August: Negramaro twice, Lecce and Bari
The month opens in style: the same band plays two dates in two different cities within 24 hours. In the Valle d’Itria, over the same weekend, the Festival della Valle d’Itria closes its 52nd edition at Martina Franca. Meanwhile the BAT area is already celebrating, between San Nicola Pellegrino at Trani and the patron saints of Canosa.
- 1 August — Lecce (Salento): Negramaro in concert, Cave del Duca — the last date of the tour before the band takes a break
- 2 August — Bari: Negramaro, Arena del Levante, Oversound Music Festival — again, 24 hours after Lecce
- 1–2 August — Martina Franca (Valle d’Itria): closing of the 52nd Festival della Valle d’Itria, Palazzo Ducale
- 1–4 August — Trani (BAT): feast of San Nicola Pellegrino, patron of the city
- 1–3 August — Canosa di Puglia (BAT, to be checked): festivities for San Sabino, the Madonna della Fonte and Sant’Alfonso de’ Liguori
- 1–2 August — Manfredonia (Gargano): end of the Manfredonia Jazz Festival, part of the summer Manfredonia Festival
📅 3–9 August: Locus Festival, Mercatino del Gusto and Carpino in Folk
The first full week of the month, and already four different worlds at once: international jazz in the Valle d’Itria, Salento food and wine, Gargano folk music and the first BAT festivals.
- 7–14 August — Locorotondo (Valle d’Itria): eight consecutive nights of the Locus Festival at Masseria Ferragnano
- 1–7 August — Maglie (Salento): Mercatino del Gusto, the great food and wine event of the Salento
- 8–15 August — Cutrofiano (Salento): 54th handmade ceramics fair
- 9 August — Carpino (Gargano): Carpino Folk Festival, with The Wailers for the 50 years of Gargano folk music
- 5–6 August — Bisceglie (BAT, to be checked): Sagra del Pesce Azzurro, the oily fish festival
- 7–10 August — Trani (BAT, to be checked): “Il Matrimonio di Re Manfredi”, a medieval historical re-enactment
- 9–10 August — Canosa di Puglia (BAT, to be checked): Sagra della Pesca Percoca, the peach festival
📅 10–16 August: two San Rocco feasts and the white nights of the northern Murgia
Two feasts of San Rocco in the same week, at opposite ends of the region: the Salento one at Torrepaduli, the most intense night of the summer, and the Gargano one at Rodi Garganico. Between them, an explosion of village festivals and white nights across the BAT and the Tremiti islands.
- 10–13 August — Cannole (Salento): Sagra della Municeddha, the Salento snail in white and in red
- 10 August — Minervino Murge (BAT, to be checked): Notte Bianca in the old Scesciola quarter
- 10 August — Spinazzola (BAT, to be checked): Sagra degli Antichi Sapori, the festival of old flavours
- 12 August — Specchia (Salento): Notte Bianca, the medieval village lit up
- 8–11 August — Bisceglie (BAT, to be checked): festivities for the patron saints Mauro, Sergio and Pantaleone
- 11 August — Margherita di Savoia (BAT, to be checked): Sagra del Mare
- 13 August — Cagnano Varano (Gargano, to be checked): Sagra della Varanea, grilled lake fish
- 12–14 August — Spinazzola (BAT, to be checked): festivities for the patron SS. Maria del Bosco
- 15–17 August — Torrepaduli (Ruffano) (Salento): feast of San Rocco, pizzica circles until dawn
- 11–19 August — Rodi Garganico (Gargano, to be checked): San Rocco festivities, dates on a traditional basis
- 15–16 August — Tremiti islands (Gargano): feast of the Assumption and of Santa Assunta, patron of the islands
- 16 August — San Severo (Daunia): feast of San Rocco, with pyrotechnic batteries fired through the streets
- 16–19 August — Bisceglie (BAT, to be checked): Sagra delle Grotte di Santa Croce
📅 17–23 August: the Concertone and the opening of the Mediterranean Games
This is the most important week of the Apulian summer of 2026: on the same day that Melpignano detonates with the Concertone of the Notte della Taranta, Taranto opens the 20th Mediterranean Games. Each deserves a box of its own.
🏆 20th Mediterranean Games — Taranto, 21 August to 3 September. More than 4,000 athletes from 26 nations, 29 sporting disciplines, over 20 Apulian towns involved. 📅 24–31 August: Sant’Oronzo and the final sprint
The month ends the way the Salento does it best: luminarie, processions and squares full until late. But the Gargano and the Daunia also see the summer out with their best-attended feasts, while the Locus Festival in the Valle d’Itria runs on into the first days of September.
- 24–26 August — Lecce (Salento): feast of Sant’Oronzo, patron of the city, with monumental luminarie in the baroque centre
- 27 August — Manfredonia (Gargano): closing concert of the Manfredonia Festival, cloister of Palazzo San Domenico
- 28–30 August — Manfredonia (Gargano): feast of Maria SS. di Siponto
- 29 August — Motta Montecorvino (Daunia): feast of San Giovanni Corvino
- Across into September — Fasano (Valle d’Itria): the Locus Festival ends at the excavations of Egnazia with C.S.I. on 2 September
